Another UK state visit, this time on home soil. For royal watchers, this was quite the unexpected, but glittery affair. Let’s get into it:

Day 1: November 21-London

While the President and his wife arrive in the UK the day before, the first official day of the trip started on November 21st. There was an official greeting for President Yoon Suk Yeol and First Lady Kim Keon-hee, first by the Prince and Princess of Wales at their hotel. Afterwards, the four travelled to Horse Guards Parade where they were greeted by the King and Queen.

Queen Camilla wore an Anna Valentine outfit, accessorized by the Russian sapphire cluster brooch.

The Princess of Wales wore a Catherine Walker ensemble. It very much gave me Mathilde and Máxima vibes, with the cape sleeves, hat, and large bow. Don’t take this as hate; I thought it was a fun new look for Catherine.

After a private lunch, the President and First Lady viewed an exhibition from the Royal Collection of items related to Korea.

The President and First Lady then attended a wreath laying ceremony with Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester at the Korean War Memorial.

It was the evening we had all been waiting for though. Due to the time difference, it was nearly my nap time, but I am so glad I stayed awake because the royals really dug deep in the vaults for this state banquet.

Queen Camilla wore a Fiona Clare gown… and a new (to her) tiara!

She wore the Burmese Ruby tiara, which admittedly is not my favourite in the collection. However, I think she absolutely pulled it off. The base seems to be have been opened up and as I have stated before, she has perfect tiara hair. So while I do not like this tiara, I have to give the Queen props for making it look amazing for the night! Along with the tiara, she also wore Queen Victoria’s Crown Ruby necklace.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of them all that night though, was the Princess of Wales! She wore a Jenny Packham gown and the Strathmore Rose tiara.

I repeat: the Strathmore. Rose. Tiara.

This is not a drill people! The Strathmore lives to see another day!

This tiara is a personal favourite, and I am not alone in that feeling. Last worn by the Queen Mother, it was believed to be too fragile to be worn anymore, which was a complete shame, because it’s gorgeous. Work was obviously done to sturdy up the piece, because here it is, in all it’s beautiful, floral glory.

Once everyone got over the shock and awe of the Strathmore, we saw that the Duchess of Edinburgh wore her aquamarine necklace tiara, which as the name suggests, is convertible to a necklace, along with the gown she wore for the coronation of King Charles, by Susannah.

The Princess Royal, peeking out from behind the Princess of Wales, wore her diamond festoon tiara and necklace.

The Strathmore Rose wasn’t the only piece pulled from deep within the vaults this time, the Duchess of Gloucester also wore a piece that hasn’t been seen in decades. Here’s a better look at it:

Royalty meets K-Pop.

I’m not a K-Pop fan personally, but I know that BlackPink is super popular, so it was a hit when on day two of the trip, King Charles III awarded the ladies with honorary MBE’s for their work in environmentalism!

That afternoon, the Duchess of Edinburgh attended a roundtable discussing with the President about how we can harness science to truly achieve great things for humanity.

In the evening, it was time for more royal jewels, as the President and First Lady attended a dinner at the Guildhall hosted by the Lord Mayor. The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester attended as well!

The Duchess wore the Gloucester Honeysuckle tiara with the pink topaz centre, along with pink topaz jewels.

Day 3: November 23rd-London

Honestly, day three was a bit of a nothing day for this trip. The President and First Lady visited the Churchill War Rooms, and big farewell to the King and Queen at Buckingham Palace before departing. No fun royal outings that day.

It was a short trip, seemingly even shorter when you consider that not a whole lot took place on day three. Either way though, we got some fantastic jewel outings, beautiful outfits, and some new to us tiaras!
