We’re in the run up to Christmas and I love a good countdown, so I’m combining the two and presenting my five favourite looks of the year from each leading royal lady. For these posts, I’ll be relying on the wonderful UFO No More site for brand names (because I can’t remember all of this off the top of my head). With that being said, we’re kicking off twelve days of outfits today, all the way to Christmas Eve!

And for the first instalment, I’m going with Princess Charlene of Monaco!

On June 20th (my birthday, actually), Princess Charlene attended the Golden Nymphs award ceremony at the 62nd Monte Carlo TV Festival wearing an Akris gown in a lovely navy. I liked the structure of the outfit, with the folded front, as well as the sparkle she brought, although I would have enjoyed it more if she wore heirloom jewels. The necklace and earrings are newer made pieces from Graff.

The big royal event of the year was definitely the coronation of King Charles II of the United Kingdom. Royals from all over came to attend, and our first glimpse of them came on May 5th, when the British royals hosted a welcome reception for them. Princess Charlene wore a pale blue trouser and cape top (there’s gotta be a name for this), and looked wonderful. I haven’t seen a designer for this outfit, unless I’m completely missing it. If you know, please let me know!

For Monaco’s national day, Princess Charlene attended the evening gala in a red Didier Angelo gown. Red was the colour of the day, as it is part of Monaco’s flag. At first I thought this dress was covered in sequins but it’s actually glass beads. Combined with a red lip? Perfection.

This is a recent one! Princess Charlene wore a sequinned gown to a Christmas ball in benefit for the Princess Charlene Foundation. The look is pretty similar to the previous entry in this list, both of which are actually very appropriate for a Christmas ball. This one gets the number 2 spot simply because something about the fit seems a little more comfortable.

We’re circling back to National Day. Her daytime outfit was wonderful in my opinion! She wore a red Didier Angelo outfit with an oversized collar, and looked very cozy for a blustery day. Plus, subtly matching with Princess Gabriella? Adorable. This look was classic Charlene: a little dramatic and a lot of fun.
